Dense fog advisory in effect for parts of western Washington Tuesday

A thick layer of fog once again settled over parts of western Washington on Tuesday morning.

A photo shows fog around the Space Needle and Seattle Center before 5 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. for the southwest interior and areas near Hood Canal through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Visibility is below a quarter-mile in some places, and freezing fog is possible, which could create slick spots on the roads during the Tuesday morning commute.Areas of fog are expected to linger around parts of the central and south Sound through the Chehalis Valley through 9 a.m., lifting through noon.

The first system is a lower-key event, according to Waldenberger. It'll swing south, generating a few showers on Thursday. Winds will turn a little breezy at times and we'll add a few inches of fresh snow to the ski resorts. It's all just a warmup though.
