Today's cover: Democrats keep passing the buck on who pays for illegal immigration

All this happens because the rhetoric of Democratic politicians about the wonders of unlimited immigration is bull, and they know it. New York City’s Independent Budget Office recently estimated that providing services just to the recent influx of illegal immigrants could cost taxpayers $600 million per year.

Welfare costs for the illegal immigrants themselves aren’t the only costs. While the official unemployment rate is blessedly low, it doesn’t count people who’ve just stopped looking for work altogether. The share of working-age people who are actually working or looking for work has been declining for some time, especially among men without a college degree.

This decline in work contributes to a host of costly social problems, such as crime, drug addiction, and family breakdown.
