Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., on Tuesday claimed 'nobody is safe' from President-elect Donald Trump's proposed mass deportations.
Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., on Tuesday demanded that President Joe Biden use his “power” to protect immigrant families, saying President-elect Donald Trump will create “chaos” for them once in office.
“Unfortunately, as you have identified, the next administration is going to come in and there’s going to be chaos around immigration and mass deportation,” Sen. Cortez Masto said. “Nobody is safe.” I remember the calls I would get in my office during the first Trump administration from families that were under threat because of the immigration chaos he created,” she wrote via X. “President Biden has the power to protect immigrant families, and I'm calling on him to use it.”
Not all Democratic leaders are in the same boat, however. Denver, Colorado Mayor Mike Johnston on Monday was chided by The Denver Post for using “violent rhetoric” to oppose Trump’s plans.
