UPDATE: San Antonio Fire Department has confirmed four fatalities in the explosion on the Southeast Side Friday night.
The incident happened at 11:30 p.m. Friday near K-Bar, a construction company located in the 9700 block of South Presa Street.
“Due to the inclement weather on Saturday night, operations were slowed today. Investigators will resume efforts tomorrow morning at the scene continuing to work to determine a cause/origin,” SAFD said in a statement Sunday. When firefighters initially arrived, they found evidence of the large explosion and found one person had died at the scene.
On Saturday afternoon, SAFD confirmed a second fatality. By Sunday evening, two other deaths were confirmed. None of the victims have been identified as of yet.SAFD is still investigating what caused the explosion but suspect it could be arson.
