My younger sister, “Mara,” and I have a strong relationship. We share similar beliefs but are very different temperamentally and have always accepted each other as we are. My sister has one child, my 5 ½-year-old nephew, “Michael,” with whom I am also close and with whom I spend a great deal of time. Mara is an amazing mother—dedicated, introspective about parenting, loving, devoted—and I would never suggest that she needs to alter her behavior when it comes to Michael.
