This article contains spoilers for Deadpool: Badder Blood #3 Deadpool has been on the receiving end of Wolverine’s claws more times than he can count, and while his own weapons have allowed him to keep up with Wolverine whenever the two are in conflict, Deadpool now finally has a weapon that’s not only a match for Wolverine’s claws, but is actually way more powerful.
It’s fair to say that Wade Wilson aka Deadpool has always sort of lived in Wolverine’s shadow. Deadpool was the ‘Weapon’ project after Wolverine who developed the same type of base power set including strength, reflexes, and - of course - a healing factor. Not only that, but where Deadpool carried his trusty katana and his plethora of pistols, Wolverine had a set of indestructible claws that were not only easily maneuverable in battle, but were also literally attached to him.
Deadpool’s ‘Lightsaber’ Is WAY Better Than Wolverine’s Claws In Deadpool: Badder Blood #3 by Rob Liefeld and Chad Bowers, Deadpool is stuck in what is essentially a reality-bending simulation known as Killville that pits him against some of the deadliest foes in Marvel Comics history - including alternate versions of himself. In this issue, Deadpool is fighting Venompool before he encounters the Deadpool Corps., who actually came to him as allies.
If Deadpool were to go up against Wolverine while wielding a legitimate lightsaber, then Wolverine wouldn’t have a chance. Even if the weapon couldn’t pierce his adamantium, the lightsaber would have no problem burning the flesh from Logan’s skeleton with every slice, giving Deadpool the chance to defeat Wolverine the same way Nimrod had repeatedly done in Inferno.
All-in-all it’s just no contest, lightsabers are unarguably one of the coolest weapons in all of fiction, and most fans would be lying if they said they never wanted one of their own. While Wolverine’s claws are iconic and cool as well, they just don’t hold up against a lightsaber, either in terms of effectiveness or aesthetic. In short, after many years of playing second fiddle, Deadpool finally has a weapon more powerful than Wolverine’s claws with his all-new ‘lightsaber’.
