Police received a call of a shooter armed with a long gun at the Courtyard Marriott in Poughkeepsie just before 8 a.m. Saturday.
Officials searched the building and found manuals related to the making of explosive devices inside a hotel room, as well as materials with the potential to be used as explosives. The New York State Police Bomb Squad responded and secured the material.
The ATF was also notified.Marist College released a statement saying the victim was a relative of a student.The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department says there is no reason to believe there is a threat to Marist College or any other school in Poughkeepsie at this time.
