Dawson relying on blend of talented players

Dawson head basketball coach Mark Barre has a 2022-23 team which could make some noise in the Class 6A playoffs this season. While many of his coaching cohorts are pointing to Dawson as the premier boys basketball team in the Greater Houston area, Mark Barre isn’t readily buying into that assessment.

“We’re just beginning to incorporate our football guys,” Barre said. “I told our players that I tried to do too much the first day we got them from football. “Our strictly basketball guys have been in fall leagues, shootouts and played probably 20 games, yet the football guys were playing football.All-district players returning to the Dawson fold include 6-1 senior guard Jaden Miller, 6-4 senior post Larry Lyons, 6-7 senior post Charles Anderson and 6-5 senior post Keshawn Cotton.

Move-in Kendrick Bailey, a 6-foot senior guard from Alvin, has proven a welcome addition while Barre is also mixing in newcomers Devan Brown, Nehemiah Richardson, Braylon Howard and Chase Davis.
