PGA Tour legend Davis Love III underwent open-heart surgery last week to replace a leaky valve. Love, who has battled a number of injuries in recent years, is expected to be sidelined for at least 12 weeks but remains determined to break Mark Brooks' record for the most PGA Tour starts.
During the final round of the Farmers Insurance Invitational broadcast, Jim Nantz broke surprising news.
Jim Nantz extended his well wishes to 21-time PGA Tour winner Davis Love III, who underwent open-heart surgery recently to replace "a leaky valve" that was initially discovered about 10 years ago.“The doctor told me it’s not an emergency but let's do it before the spring. I said, ‘Let’s do it the first date you have open,’” Love recalled.“Cow parts in my thumb and heart now,” he wrote.
He made only three starts on the PGA Tour Champions in 2024; however, Love had planned to return in 2025 with his eye on Mark Brooks’s record for the most PGA Tour starts ever. Brooks has 803; Love, 790.
