WILLIAMSPORT – Dauphin County has agreed to pay $142,500 to settle a federal lawsuit brought by a female inmate who claimed her head was slammed to the floor in 2017 causing her to lose consciousness for 10 minutes.her suit in U.S. Middle District CourtThe settlement was reached without an admission of liability by the defendants, the county, former prison warden Dominick DeRose and corrections officer Joshua Marshall.

Barngetuny, then a post-trial detainee, alleged Marshall slammed her face first onto the floor knocking her out and then an unidentified corrections officer twice pepper sprayed while she was motionless. Barngetuny, 31, said she suffered a broken jaw that required surgery along with two broken teeth and cuts to the chin.
