The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers don’t share the field regularly, but when they do, stakes are often high — and games typically elicit fireworks.

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith shows off the second of his three Super Bowl rings in New York's Central Park Monday May 13, 1996. Joining Smith are the Cincinnati Bengals' Jeff Blake, center, and Pittsburgh Steelers' Kordell Stewart at an NFL "Play Football" promotion to demonstrate elements of the league's youth initiative.

All told, Dallas owns a 16-14 record in the regular season against Pittsburgh, but perhaps more important to league history is the team’s 1-2 mark against the Steelers in Super Bowls. The Steelers sacked Staubach seven times, grabbed three interceptions and recorded a safety in their second straight Super Bowl victory, which became part of their run to four titles in six yards.

Holding a 21-17 lead, Pittsburgh running back Franco Harris ran for a 22-yard touchdown, and Dallas coughed the ball up on the ensuing kickoff. When the Steeelers’ offense retook the field, Bradshaw tossed an 18-yard touchdown to Swann on the first play of a short drive.
