Cyberpunk 2077’s big 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty expansion are nearly here, but while integrated, they are also two separate things, and base game players get access to all the 2.0 stuff. That includes car chases and vehicle combat,

something the game has never had before, and a common point of contention when players didn’t understand why that mechanic wasn’t in the game at launch.

Well, it is now. It’s a large part of the gameplay update for 2.0 ahead of Phantom Liberty, and now CDPR has someabout how it works for a variety of playstyles. We’ll probably see more of this in a new showcase that just got announced for Thursday, but here’s what we know about vehicle combat now:In a normal car, you can shoot out the side windows or straight ahead through the windshield.

Netrunners will not be at a disadvantage during car chases either, however, as you can use quickhacks to cause cars or bikes to accelerate uncontrollably, slam on their brakes or literally self-destruct. There are said to be more, unlisted hacks as well. All of this is going to be used in tandem with the new police system where police will…actually chase you in cars, part of the much more GTA-like revamped Wanted/Police AI system CDPR has already detailed.
