Following the January 6th Capitol insurrection, Cuyahoga County Sheriff's deputies will be deployed to Washington D.C. to enhance security during the 2025 Electoral Vote certification and President-elect Donald Trump's second inauguration.
Cuyahoga County Sheriff deputies will be helping with security during the Jan. 6, 2025, Certification of Electoral Votes, as well as President-elect Donald Trump 's Jan. 20 inauguration. The last time Congress met to formalize a president’s victory in an election, there was a violent insurrection. This year, Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s deputies are heading to the nation’s capital to beef up security and help ensure a peaceful transfer of power.
The county’s Board of Control has approved sending 16 deputies to help Washington, D.C., police with “securing, counting and certification” of Electoral Votes on Jan. 6, to confirm President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 election, and 32 deputies to help with security for Trump’s second presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, board agendas show
