The sudden stop forced 21 CSX cars to run off the tracks and land within spitting distance of nearby homes and buildings.
At least 21 train cars ran off the tracks in Kentucky Thursday when a conductor was forced to slam on the brakes to avoid crashing into a semi-truck stuck on the tracks.
The train “went into emergency attempting to avoid a collision with a semi-truck and trailer stuck on the crossing,” the spokesperson said. Though the train succeeded in avoiding the semi-truck, one of the derailed cars collided with another vehicle that was near the tracks.
