Crews battling 2 wildfires covering nearly 1,500 acres, officials say

Each fire was 50% contained Saturday morning.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is currently battling two wildfires in Burlington County, after a second blaze ignited in Evesham Township Friday. The latest wildfire burning near Kettle Run and Bortons Road in the township grew from 60 acres Friday night to 600 by 10 a.m. Saturday. That’s in addition to the blaze in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest near City Line Road that more than doubled in size overnight to over 850 acres.

The second fire, which the service called the Buzby Boggs Wildfire, was 50% contained and threatening four structures in the township, according to a statement from the service at 10 a.m. Saturday.
