Councilman Clayton Perry requests sabbatical, does not intend to resign amid hit-and-run investigation

In a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. Monday, the council also plans to take a no-confidence vote on Perry’s ability to act as an effective representative — the second such vote on a council member in less than a week.

Perry took a different tone Monday from his first public statement on Wednesday when he called the accident a “hassle.” Many of his colleagues took issue with Perry’s apparent lack of remorse and accountability last week. On Thursday, Police Chief William McManus said the SAPD would refer a drunken driving charge to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office — in addition to a charge of failing to stop and provide information after an accident.
