After some discussion between committee members and city staff about what happened back then, it emerged that council balked at continuing the previous levy in 2016. Instead, they voted to use the first levy phase for other improvements to the snow and ice program, including improved snow clearing around schools.
Several members of the committee said they’d be interested in hearing more on combining the two options — essentially using the future capital funds to either help the levy build up an emergency snow removal reserve sooner, or to reduce the property tax impact of the levy.
