One day after the NBA left TNT out of its new broadcast-rights package, rumors began to swirl around the future of Charles Barkley and the Inside the NBA crew.

Charles Barkley's last foray into free agency as an NBA player was an awkward one. Before the 1998-99 season began, the league locked out its players, and the dispute would last into the first three months of the season. Barkley had to wait until January 1999 to officially re-sign with the Houston Rockets.Barkley's most recent free agency — as a broadcaster — will be no less awkward, a lot more public, and even more lucrative.

Assuming Barkley opts out, there's a chance he, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kenny Smith could jump ship to a new network. Amazon Prime can't be ruled out.'Inside the NBA, in our opinion, is the gold standard for studio programming,' Amazon Prime Video's global head of sports, Jay Marine, told Front Office Sports. 'I'm a huge fan. We're all big fans. It is so entertaining. Those guys are hilarious. The chemistry is off the charts.
