Prospects Corey Julks, Cesar Salazar make Astros' roster for opening day
Friendswood native and former University of Houston standout Corey Julks has earned a spot on the Astros' opening-day roster.Astros prospects Corey Julks and César Salazar made the team’s opening-day roster, manager Dusty Baker revealed on Tuesday
Julks, a Friendswood native and former University of Houston standout, made the team after a torrid 2022 season in Class AAA. Salazar made the team as a backup catcher in a somewhat surprising move. The club optioned top prospect Korey Lee to Class AAA so he could play more regularly, general manager Dana Brown said.
Fellow catcher Yainer Diaz and righthanders Seth Martinez and Ronel Blanco also made the opening-day roster.
