The city sheriff's office estimates the value of the marijuana products at $12 million.
City law enforcement officials say they seized an estimated $12 million worth of illicit marijuana products – the largest confiscation of illegal pot products the city has ever seen — from a Queens warehouse on Thursday night.
“When the officers went back to the warehouse, they realized it was a big operation, froze the location and called the sheriff’s office,” she said. “You have to have a license from the state to sell cannabis. A lot of people have a misunderstanding – it has been decriminalized, but it is not legal to sell out of retail spaces unless you have a license,” Rosa said. “We don’t know exactly where it was going, but we do have intel that this location supplied the city and even outside the city.”
Albert Khan, the executive director of Alphabet City Childcare Center, which is on the same block as the warehouse, said he didn’t see the raid but was glad to hear about it.
