Four contractors were injured — one of them burned seriously — while performing demolition work at the old Parkview Elementary School building in Fort Worth, according to Keller ISD officials and paramedics. The incident happened Monday shortly before 10:30 a.m. at 6900 Bayberry Drive. A Keller ISD spokesperson said it occurred at the old school building, which is separate from the current occupied campus, and involved contractors doing demolition work. No Keller ISD staff or students were injured, the spokesperson said.

MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said four people were injured with burns; one was flown to Parkland, two were taken to a hospital in “green” condition, which indicates a less serious injury; and one person was treated at the scene, Zavadsky and Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Craig Trojacek said.

Trojacek described the incident as an “electrical flash fire.” The department’s bomb unit responded to the old school building, but Trojacek said, “There is nothing criminal about this incident whatsoever.”
