The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing over the 101 Freeway at Liberty Canyon in Agoura Hills, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
But the good news is fundraising efforts lead by the the Wallis Annenberg Foundation, which donated at least $25 million, the NWF and thecampaign, plus public dollars, have reached $106 million, enough to provide a cushion in case costs rise again, Pratt said.

The bridge over the freeway would allow mountain lions and other animals to go from one side of the freeway to the other and would promote genetic diversity in local species. Freeway crossings have resulted in more than 35 mountain lion deaths. The most famous cougar, P-22, miraculously crossed the 101 and 405 Freeways making Griffith Park his home for 10 years until his death in December 2022, ironically from a vehicle-strike.“Celebration of Life” held before a sold-out crowd at the Greek Theatre on Feb. 4.
“They have been pouring concrete and getting the abutment pillars up,” Pratt said. “By fall, we should see the skeleton of the horizontal structure going up, the actual bridge structure.”
