Will community leaders sway L.A. City Council to keep Curren Price in his council seat until he gets his day in court?

Community leaders from embattled City Councilmember Curren Price’s council district on Thursday, June 22, decried a proposal to— saying he is presumed innocent and should be allowed to continue governing.

“Let us be represented. Let us have a voice at the table so we can continue to do the work God has intended us to do — to help, to heal … to bring everyone together.” “This effectively disenfranchises the voters and residents of L.A.’s poorest, most underserved Black and Latino district,” Hutchinson said. “This is wrong-headed and unconscionable and continues the council’s blatant pattern of ignoring the wishes and needs of minority voters.”

Adela Barajas speaks as supporters gathered to demand the Los Angeles City Council not suspend Curren Price before he’s had the chance to address the charges against him in court in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 22, 2023. The group of supporters included clergy members, community leaders, neighborhood council representatives, nonprofit leaders and stakeholders in district 9. Price was charged last week with 10 counts of embezzlement, perjury and conflict of interest.
