Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his left pectoral muscle Sunday, a source confirmed.

John Keim covers the Washington Commanders for ESPN. He joined ESPN in 2013 after a stint with the Washington Post. He started covering the team in 1994 for the Journal Newspapers and later for the Washington Examiner. He has authored/co-authored four books.

Allen has been one of Washington's top defensive linemen since the team drafted him in the first round in 2017. He made the Pro Bowl in 2021 and '22 when he had a combined 16.5 sacks. Allen had two sacks in six games this season.Allen has one more year left on his contract, but there's no guaranteed money, so the Commanders would save $17 million on their salary cap if they released him.
