Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther says data stolen last month by hackers was unusable, and no personal information was dumped on the dark web .
Ginther confirming for the first time the data was stolen by the overseas ransomware organization Rhysida, that claimed to have stolen 6.5 TB of city data that included employee passwords and log-ins. Ginther saying no personal information made it onto the dark web, and claims those thefts linked to other cyber crooks.
Earlier this month, the city offered free credit monitoring and identity theft services to all city employees, but today, it announced it would offer the same services to all former employees.
