Long known for its dominance in oil and gas, the rapid growth in wind and solar shows Texas has become a leader in renewable energy as well. It comes as the state is considering a major overhaul of its electricity market in response to the deadly power outages during the February 2021 freeze. Part of the problem during the storm was that electricity generation fell short, and solutions have focused on how to bring more generation online.
