A third TV industry insider said:"Chris Licht gave Trump a rally." Licht is the chief executive of CNN. Trump's appearance, his first with the network since 2016, was solicited by Licht, who is trying to bring in a broader range of viewers, including more conservatives. The event is also viewed as a much-needed ratings injection given CNN's declining viewership.
