Money earned from the Oct. 8 game against the Utah Jazz will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund to aid efforts in Lahaina

The Clippers announced they will donate the proceeds from their Oct. 8 preseason game against the Utah Jazz at the University of Hawai’i to the Maui Strong Fund to benefit the wildfire relief in Lahaina, Maui., destroying more than 250 structures. The fire, which started Aug. 8, is considered the deadliest in 100 years of U.S. history with more than 100 confirmed dead and about 1,300 still missing.

Following media day Oct. 2, the Clippers will head to Hawai’i at Mānoa for training camp Oct. 3-9 at the Stan Sheriff Center on the UH campus. It is the fourth time since 2017 the Clippers have held training camp in the islands. While there, the L.A. Clippers Foundation and the Hawai’i Tourism Authority will assist with wildfire recovery and renovate facilities at a local school.

“The Clippers organization, under Steve Ballmer, has always prioritized making a positive impact beyond the basketball court, and HTA is proud to work alongside them to mālama Hawai‘i – to care for our beloved home,” Kalani Ka‘anā‘anā, HTA’s Chief Brand Officer, said in the Clippers’ release. The Clippers return to the mainland for an Oct. 10 game against the Jazz at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. They play their first home preseason game Oct. 17 against the Denver Nuggets.
