Authorities have arrested a 15-year-old Cleveland boy who cut off his ankle monitor and failed to show for a sentencing hearing in which he faced a minimum of 18 years in prison.
is in custody awaiting a new date before Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams.
A team of officers from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department, Cleveland police and the U.S. Marshals Service tracked the boy to a home on East 135th Street about 3 p.m. on Friday, a spokeswoman for the marshals said.Travis pleaded guilty in March to felonious assault and five counts of aggravated robbery. TheHe was 14 in December 2021 when he shot a 22-year-old woman in the stomach during what prosecutors said was his fifth armed carjacking in less than two weeks.
County prosecutors asked a juvenile court judge to allow them to try Travis as an adult. The judge approved the request after a hearing last year. Collier-Williams, on her own motion, granted Travis a personal bond in February as he awaited trial.
