Cleveland native Brittni Mason took second in the women's 100-meter T47 run at the 2024 Paralympics on Tuesday in Paris.The Cleveland native finished in second place in the 100-meter dash in the T47 classification, earning a silver medal in the first of three events she will compete in at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.Earlier in the day, Mason finished second in her heat but was tied for the second-fastest time in qualifying along with Rodriguez.
Mason came into the 2024 Paralympics with multiple medals to her name, including a gold in the 4x100 medley and silvers in the 100 and 200. All three medals came in 2020 in Tokyo.Mason competed in track at Eastern Michigan University, where her 4x100 team won a conference title and first team All-MAC honors in 2018-19. She earned her master’s degree from EMU in sports management as well as an MBA from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School.
A West Geauga alumna, Mason also competed in the OHSAA state track and field meets in 2015 and 2016, earning four podium spots including a second-place finish in the 100 in 2016. Mason competed in the T47 classification, which is for competitors who have below wrist or elbow impairment. She was born with Erb’s Palsy in her left arm, which limits her motion in that arm.
