A man who carried out a series of execution-style killings at a 2019 house party was sentenced Wednesday to spend the rest of his life in prison.
left three people dead, seven children without a parent and himself now facing down death in a prison cell over what prosecutors said was an argument over a $40 drug deal.
Days before the trial, prosecutors dropped charges that would have carried a potential death sentence if he had been convicted. When the party-goers fled from the gunfire, Kielonte Harris went outside and shot Meeks as Meeks walked up to Harris with his hands in the air, prosecutors said. Harris then shot Tursivio as she hid behind a car outside, prosecutors said.
Witnesses testified at trial that Kielonte Harris went into the party because he was upset that a woman refused to buy drugs from him outside. When Kielonte Harris pulled a gun on her, witnesses from the party testified that Magana told him he’d better be prepared to use it and licked the barrel. Kielonte Harris reads at a second-grade level and has spent the majority of his adult life in prison, Edwards said.
