Offices that issue building permits, birth and death certificates to reopen.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- More than a week after a ransomware attack wreaked havoc on the city of Cleveland’s computer systems, City Hall is bracing to reopen Thursday at noon.
Also open will be the Division of Assessments and Licenses. Civil service examinations, and routine city meetings, will resume as normal on Thursday. City officials are warning potential visitors to be patient on Thursday. Delays and long lines could crop up as city workers address the backlog. City Hall has largely been closed since June 9, when officials discovered that the city’s computer systems had been hit by a ransomware attack. Bibb’s administration has shared only sparse details on the attack, citing an ongoing investigation that’s been aided by the FBI and Ohio National Guard’s Cyber Reserve unit.
