City of Elyria charges out-of-state property owner for safety violations

An out-of-state property owner now faces 18 misdemeanor charges for failing to keep its tenants safe.

The 19 Troubleshooters uncovered failed fire code violations at the High Point in the Park apartment building back in September.

While she knew her apartment building, High Point in the Park in Elyria, had fire code violations, including in her own apartment, she didn’t know the extent of the danger. All of these violations are part of the 18 misdemeanors filed by the City of Elyria against Roco Acquisition LLC.In fact, we’ve done multiple stories on the failed safety codes at local apartment buildings with this same property owner.After our story on High Point in the Park in September, the city filed charges the next week. Something Wressell says she’d been hoping for for nearly a year.
