Crime scene tap now surrounds the home in the 9400-block of S Wallace Street where the shooting occured, according to police. It happened just after 6:30 p.m. at the home where, police said, the boy lived with extended family in the Washington Heights neighborhood. Officials said the boy went into traumatic arrest before being taken to Comer Children's Hospital, initially reported with critical injuries to the body. He later died.
