The Chicago Bears interviewed legendary Ohio State running back Eddie George for their head coaching job.
The Chicago Bears announced Sunday they've completed an in-person interview with former OSU running back Eddie George, as Chicago continues its wide-ranging search for its next head coach following a 5-12 season.George has been the head coach of FCS program Tennessee State since the 2021 season and has recorded a 24-22 record in that timeframe. He's coming off his best season with the Tigers, as he led them to a 9-4 record and an FCS playoff appearance this year.
The 1995 Heisman Trophy winner also has extensive playing experience in the NFL over a nine-year career, most of which was spent with the Tennessee Titans. George is seen as a long shot to actually land the Bears' gig, as Chicago has been heavily connected to former Dallas coach Mike McCarthy, Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Chicago has interviewed 17 candidates for its opening, but George was only the third candidate thus far to have an in-person interview.
