Despite a surge in temperatures of over 20 degrees in the past 24 hours, the Chicago area faced icy road conditions due to a fresh snowfall. While afternoon hours remain mostly clear, another snowstorm is anticipated before a cold front sweeps across the upper Midwest. Accumulations are predicted to range from a dusting to one inch, primarily impacting areas south of Interstate 80. Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 20s through Thursday and Friday before warming above freezing on Saturday.
The Chicago area is seeing warmer temperatures on Wednesday, but residents also had to deal with slick roads as a burst of snow arrived, with more on the way.
The brunt of the snow will be felt around Interstate 80 and in areas immediately south of the highway, with northwest Indiana also dealing with more accumulations in the late afternoon and evening hours.According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, accumulations could range from a coating of snow to around one inch, with some slick spots developing on roadways across the area this evening.
