The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This is a unique opportunity to provide vision and leadership to faculty at a major research-intensive university who are nationally and internationally recognized for innovative research and teaching in the field of pharmaceutical sciences and its many disciplines.
We advance basic, translational, and clinical research across the spectrum of drug discovery and development, and are proud of our collaborative initiatives and programmatic endeavors. The Pharmaceutical Sciences department is comprised of complementary cutting-edge research programs and is home to several centers of excellence: Computer Aided Drug Design, Mass Spectrometry, Bio- and Nano-technology, and Metallotherapeutics.
The department consists of 28 faculty members . The department has about 60 PhD students in its Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate program, notably leading an NIH-funded IMSD Training Grant, and being a member of an NIH-funded Chemistry Biology Interface program . We seek applicants who will provide inspiration and leadership in research and teaching, demonstrating a strong record of leadership in research and professional activities. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D., and a distinguished record in research and education, including a well-funded research program and ability to develop and facilitate programmatic collaborative research and funding across the pharmaceutical, biomedical, chemical, and engineering sciences.
