Central Pa. man charged with homicide in wife’s 1984 disappearance has been released on bail

Jere Bagenstose was accused of killing his wife Maryann Bagenstose, but her body was never found.

was released from prison on bail this week, court records show.

Under the terms of his bail, Bagenstose cannot contact witnesses, must wear a GPS monitor, and cannot leave Lancaster County without the court’s permission, according to LancasterOnline. He also must report to bail administration each week. Maryann was not ready to pick up the new car when Jere arrived at her home June 5, he said. He told investigators he took their son to a local park, and when he returned found a handwritten note from Maryann saying she was walking to a Turkey Hill convenience store and would soon return.
