Delaware’s Kelcey Dew, Marysville’s Kali Leng and Orange’s Talia Mitchell are thrilled to be playing leading roles while “the dream is coming true.”

Dew, Leng and Mitchell are seniors who have competed in all three state tournaments, which were sponsored by the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association, and were state placers last season. They have witnessed the progression of their sport and are proud to be able to help it reach another level.

Oswalt has a storied past in the sport. She was a qualifier for the Over-15 Olympic Team Trials in 2004, won the Junior National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota, in 2005 as a senior at Mount Vernon and was a member of the U.S. Senior Freestyle Women’s National team in 2009.“The dream is coming true,” Oswalt said. “That’s how I look at it. I didn’t have the luxury of having this, and now to be able to give to others is great. We’re taking big steps toward a big dream coming true.

While Leng and Mitchell began wrestling as freshmen, Dew started in the third grade. That meant she grew up wrestling boys and was one of the few girls on the mat.
