CelcomDigi today has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with satellite solutions provider SES at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, Spain.
CelcomDigi today has inked a Memorandum of Understanding with satellite solutions provider SES at Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. Its aim is to explore a strategic partnership to provide connectivity using the latter's Medium-Earth-Orbit and Geosynchronous Equatorial Orbit satellites for businesses and communities in Malaysia.
The telco, along with its subsidiaries, will partner with SES to study the establishment of a domestic hub for Satellite Communication services within the country. The collaboration entails leveraging the solutions provider's satellite technologies in conjunction with CelcomDigi's infrastructure, including facilities managed by Celcom Timur Sdn Bhd.
CelcomDigi CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi expressed enthusiasm about their collaboration with SES, particularly in Malaysia, foreseeing opportunities to improve the telco's 4G LTE and 5G services. He adds that the partnership could also potentially extend digital opportunities to more Malaysians in today's digital economy, prioritising reliable service delivery.
On a related note, the telco recently announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services earlier this week at MWC 2024. The partnership will see the telco utilising the latter's Amazon Bedrock platform to establish an AI Sandbox, which will then be used to develop generative AI tools that can be integrated into its operations in various aspects.
