Cecile Landi, during a workout with Simone Biles in advance of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, has been selected to the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.Cecile and Laurent Landi, who coached Simone Biles and Jordyn Chiles on the 2021 U.S. Olympic gymnastics team and are head coaches at World Champions Centre in Spring, have been selected to the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
The Landis, who came to Houston in 2017 from World Olympics Gymnastics Academy in suburban Dallas, will be inducted in August at the national championships in San Jose, Calif. The Landis both competed in their native France and became coaches after retiring from competitive gymnastics. They moved to the United States in 2004 and were married in 2005.
At WOGA, the Landis coached world champion Alyssa Baumann and two-time Olympic medalist Madison Kocian before moving to the Houston area to succeed Aimee Boorman as Biles’ coach. Biles, who took a year off after winning five medals at the 2016 Olympics, returned to competition in 2018 and won two national all-around titles, two world all-around championships and silver and bronze medals at the 2021 Olympics. Chiles also was a member of the silver medal-winning U.S. team.
