Carlos Sainz wants to avoid a repeat of the Renault days and have Ferrari contract matters settled by the start of next year, with his current deal up at the end of 2024. ✍️ Formula_Nerds carlossainz ferrari formula1 f1

“Not necessarily this year, but before the start of next year or during the start of next year.”

He continued, “I’ve always said I like going into an F1 season knowing where I’m going to race the year after, because I went through that experience at Renault and I didn’t enjoy it at all, the way everything panned out, so that would be my target.”The Spanish driver also provided his point of view on the increasing speculation surrounding Leclerc and Hamilton’s futures in the sport. With the outcome of this decision potentially having an impact on his own future.

“A week and a half ago I was going to Audi, a week ago Charles [Leclerc] was going to Mercedes, now Lewis [Hamilton] is coming to Ferrari – it’s the story of our lives when it comes to this time of the year.” He continues, “I’ve been long enough in F1, more than eight years, to know that this is that time of the year.” During the height of the Hamilton to Ferrari rumours, Sainz revealed he didn’t seek reassurances from Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur. The Spaniard simply said that he “didn’t feel like” he needs any reassurances from the team boss.

Neither Ferrari driver appears to be in talks with the Scuderia regarding their futures with the team. So it could be a long while until they reveal any future line-up. But who will drive for Ferrari in 2025?
