The Cardinals were quite busy on Sunday afternoon, dealing away right-handed reliever Jordan Hicks to the Toronto Blue Jays and sending left-handed starter Jordan Montgomery to the Texas Rangers, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed.
The Cards, who have begun their selloff, will get back righties Sem Robberse and Adam Kloffenstein in the deal with Toronto,Right-handed reliever Chris Stratton will also go to Texas as part of that deal and St. Louis will receive infielder Thomas Saggese, righty Tekoah Roby and lefty John King,The Cardinals’ decision to sell near the MLB trade deadline is no surprise considering where they are in the standings.More moves are likely to come from St. Louis as Tuesday’s 6 p.m.
Hicks is a pending free agent this offseason and would help the Blue Jays bullpen that just lost All-Star closer Jordan Romano to the 15-day injured list. Hicks has eight saves for the Cardinals this season, while posting a 3.67 ERA in 41⅔ innings pitched.
