A new anthology novel featuring 13 original short stories celebrating Captain America's Sam Wilson will be released in 2025.
2025 is going to be a big year for Sam Wilson, so to celebrate Captain America, he's getting a new book of short stories starring the hero. Before the former Falcon hits theaters in his latest MCU film, see several writers pay tribute to Captain America in a seriously action-packed anthology. Marvel Comics revealed that it was teaming up with Titan Books to produce Captain America: The Shield of Sam Wilson, an anthology novel containing 13 original short stories starring Sam.
The writers involved are Maurice Broaddus, Jesse J. Holland, Gar Anthony Haywood, Nicole Givens Kurtz, Kyoko M., Sheree Renee Thomas, Gary Phillips, Danian Jerry, Gloria J. Browne Marshall, Glenn Parris, Christopher Chambers, and Alex Simmons. The anthology is filled with awe-inspiring tales that see Captain America travel back in time, thwart an insurrectionist plot, and even take on villains such as HYDRA, Sabretooth, and even Daredevil’s archenemy, the Kingpin. It seems just like yesterday that Sam traded in his old Falcon identity to become Captain America. Steve Rogers had lost the effects of his Super-Soldier Serum and had aged, making way for Sam to claim the title. Sam stayed with the moniker and headlined his own series in Captain America: Sam Wilson. Despite succeeding as Captain America, Wilson eventually returned to his old identity. However, after meeting the Captains Network, Sam was inspired to re-don the identity alongside Steve. Since then, Sam has remained Captain America, later starring in his own series again in Captain America: Symbol of Truth. While Captain America: The Shield of Sam Wilson opts for a prose approach instead of a comic, it's still a nice way to honor the character a decade after he first took on the iconic mantle.
