Next week, the Army Corps of Engineers will stop releasing water from the dam for part of the day Tuesday.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will pause water releases from Canyon Dam this coming week while an annual dam inspection is completed. Water is currently being released from the lake into the Guadalupe River at a rate of 63 cubic feet per second, according to U.S. Geological Survey data. Starting Monday, the Army Corps will begin to reduce those, and about 9 a.m. on Tuesday, the water releases will stop completely.

Flows should return to their current level by Wednesday — though that’s still well below normal. Median flow for this time of year is more than 300 cfs, but it has only exceeded 100 cfs once since last October, during a one-day surge in January.
