Mendes first broke out onto the scene as Veronica Lodge in Riverdale, the 2017 teen mystery drama series based on the characters of the Archie comics.
In Do Revenge, lauded for its hilarious high school shenanigans and homage to iconic teen flicks that preceded it, Mendes plays one half of a friend duo who swear each other allegiance to help take down their respective bullies. The rom-com Upgraded was similarly commended for its contribution and homage to its genre, as it starred Mendes as an art intern named Ana in a modern-day retelling of the classic Cinderella story.
Reviews admit that Música falls prey to typical clichés occasionally, but the film makes up for it not only in its story but in its small-scale but mighty cast and tribute to Brazilian culture. Mancuso and Mendes share Brazilian roots that were lavishly infused into Música's music and story. Alongside Mancuso and Mendes, who share an electric chemistry as the movie's romantic leads, Música includes Curb Your Enthusiasm's J. B.
Música and her last few movies have confirmed Camila Mendes as a certifiable rom-com actress thus far, but the future may very well reveal her to be quite a big movie star.
