A bill introduced in California would ban several common ingredients used in fruit cups, candies and desserts — such as Red Dye No. 3 — which have been linked to cancer in animal studies.

3, as well as titanium dioxide, potassium bromate, brominated vegetable oil and propylparaben would be outlawed in the manufacturing, distribution or sale of foods in the state.
