Gulf Shores officers on patrol responded at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a person injured in the 900 block of West Lagoon Avenue, said Det. Carl Wittstruck.Due to the extent of the woman’s injuries and the lack of information about her identity, Wittstruck said, investigators from the Traffic Homicide Unit and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded the scene.

Investigators learned the woman was from Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. Authorities said she was in a pedestrian crosswalk when she was struck.Gustiva Licona-Hernandez, who lives in Calera, was identified by evidence from the scene, Wittstruck said. He is charged with failure to report an accident with serious injuries.
