Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Sunday said that air traffic control training would be forced to halt should Congress fail to avert a shutdown.

Buttigieg, a former Democratic presidential candidate, addressed the potential government shutdown during an appearance on CNN’s "State of the Union," saying the"Speaker McCarthy and the president made a deal. They made a deal earlier this summer," Buttigieg said. "And by the way, it wasn't an easy deal.
Pete Buttigieg said a federal shutdown would halt air traffic control training, which would impact the already struggling airline industry.
