The agency “recently determined” it would need to select additional H-1B hopefuls to reach the cap for next fiscal year, following the initial lottery in March. It didn’t specify when the next lottery would take place. H-1B visas, which allow foreign workers in specialized jobs and are often used in tech, are highly sought after. USCIS earlier this year warned companies might be trying towill pull from previous electronic registrationsH-1B applications submitted to the lottery for fiscal year 2024 increased by more than 60 percent, to 780,884 applications for 85,000 slots, USCIS said in April. It was not immediately clear how USCIS determined a second lottery was needed.
